How to play

How to play FreeCell

  1. Find a useful low card Look for an Ace or another low card that can move toward its suit foundation.
  2. Build down by alternating color Place a red card on the next higher black card, or a black card on the next higher red card.
  3. Use free cells for temporary storage Each free cell holds one card. Keeping cells open lets you move longer ordered sequences.
  4. Complete all four foundations Move every suit from Ace through King. The game ends when all 52 cards reach the foundations.

Player guide

Keep at least one free cell open

A free cell helps you reach buried cards, but filling all four cells limits the sequences you can move. Open an empty tableau column before committing the last free cell.

FreeCell strategy

Empty columns are more useful than they look

An empty column can hold any card or valid sequence. It also increases how many ordered cards can move together, so clearing a column often matters more than sending one extra card to a foundation.
