How to play

How to play Fold Escape

  1. Choose a friend Select Mica or Sol with the character buttons, or press 1 or 2. Move with the arrow buttons, arrow keys, or WASD.
  2. Overlap the maps Choose Fold maps or press Space or F. A path on either map covers a gap on the other. The two friends cannot occupy the same tile while folded.
  3. Work through the gates Collect diamond keys for diamond doors. Leave a friend on a round switch to hold striped gates open. Red striped tiles block movement while folded.
  4. Open at the exits Both friends need solid ground on their own maps before you can open them. Reach the matching exits and leave the maps open to complete the level.

Check the other map before folding

A gap can become a path when the two worlds overlap. Before opening again, make sure both friends are standing on tiles that exist in their own worlds.

Common questions

Fold Escape FAQ

Do I need a folding phone to play Fold Escape?

No. The game simulates the fold on screen. Use the fold button, the middle drag tab, or Space or F on a regular phone, tablet, or computer.

How many levels does Fold Escape have?

There are nine levels: one tutorial and eight further puzzles. All levels are available from the level menu. Your browser saves your best move count for each completed level when local storage is available.

Why will the maps not open?

A friend may be standing over a gap in their own world, using a path borrowed from the other map. Move both friends onto their own solid tiles before opening. You can use Undo to return to an earlier position.

What do the keys, switches, and red stripes do?

A diamond key opens diamond doors. A round switch holds striped gates open while a friend stands on it. Red striped tiles are safe with the maps open, but become impassable lasers when the maps are folded.

Does Fold Escape need a download or an account?

No account or installer is needed. PCder hosts the game files on its own domain. Fold Escape is an original PCder game released under the MIT license.

Can I play Fold Escape on PCder from Australia?

Yes. The Australia page keeps Fold Escape ready for desktop browser play, with no launcher and no account step. Some schools, offices, and managed networks may still block game sites.
